September 1st 2003

Forgot the White Rabbits again...... never mind the M25 was in good form for a change so the day went fairly well. Went for a swim at the gym after work.

September 2nd

Long drive up country and back today..... still it could have been a lot worse

September 3rd

Finished the working day in downtown Margate so I went round the coast to visit the aged parents, such a dutiful son!! Both seem to be full of the joys of spring... worrying really since it is nearly autumn.....

September 4th

Day at work, nice sunny day in Brighton to start it off...... then a committee meeting for the "Secret Squirrels"

September 5th

Friday all the way to Southampton and back again...... thank you God for inventing Fridays! Food shopping at the local Asda, what a fab store .... out of 20 or so items on our list (yeah we bought a shed load of other stuff too) no less than 4 were already out of stock between 6:30 and 7:15 pm. Things like Turkey Sausages, own brand dog biscuits, large free range eggs. AND we had to change the menu for supper 3 times because items for that were unavailable too... I HATE THAT SHOP, still I managed to do a nice stir fry for supper in the end. Watched Harry Potter 2 with Des and her mate Linda drank a bit of wine and went to bed very late!

September 6th

Des and Ted went to her nephew Darren & Stephanie's place for what we thought was a Barbie... HA! You had us there Darren oh no it was dinner in the dining room, dressed in warm rugby type shirt and jeans, just the thing to wear!! Nice Steak Diane Darren!

September 9th

Don't you just love Tuesdays .... this one was great,  long way from home, late home and most of the week still to go

September 12th

There I was parked in a proper space, in a private car park, in broad daylight ..... and some person who's parents were not married hits the back of my car, leaves white paint all over the bumper of my black car and drives off! I hope your car gets infested with fleas!

September 13th

Des was doing the pre-holiday rounds, waxing dying and cutting and styling various bits of hair in preparation for her 3rd holiday of the year. What fun, so I went shopping on my own! I didn't buy a pair of flip flops for the holiday either. The sun was shining the shops were full of junk but people seemed to be in a pleasant frame of mind.... no rude pushing, appologising when they stepped in front of you and that type of thing.

DVD and a Ted special curry for the evening. Nice day.

September 14th

Weather still holding.... sun on both days of a September weekend totally unheard of when I was a boy!!!!

Cut the grass, prune the bushes...Then I went to the woods to collect some wood for the chiminea, stacks of it lying around so brought back a box full. Still nice at tea time so we barbequed supper and sat in the garden, I had spent all day tidying etc, drinking wine when Linda and Erika came round to join us. I got very tired (Hmmmmm would not tipsy be more accurate?) Burnt all the firewood too!

September 18th to25th

Back to the Isles of Dogs... The Canary Isles this time Puerto Del Carmen on Lanzarote. A week spent lying in the sun reading then eating and drinking all evening. Just as well really, I forgot the camera, but fortunately there was little to take pictures of, this trip.

The Apartment was very close to the centre of the old town, like five minute walk back up hill afterwards! Shame it was just so old and worn out... bit of a problem with the pool too if you are only 5 foot tall and a weak swimmer like Des, it was all too deep for her to put her feet down! most of it was about 2m deep. Still we got her some kiddies arm bands .... (wish I had taken the camera just for that!) To the owners of the Club Aquarius Aquamar, you need to spend some money to revamp what could be an excellent complex.

Eating in the Harbour area of Puerto Del Carman was a revelation, every meal bar one was at least as good as the best in Gran Canaria and I think I have found the best Restaurant in the entire Canary Islands (go on prove me wrong!) the "Casa Bodeco's". Declan and Bozena have created a lovely environment to complement Bozena's wonderful Polish cooking. I loved the Zrazy and the Stroganoff (don't ask for any extra spuds ... the potato pancake it's served on is more than enough!). Hey guys it was great to meet you and the rest of the team to quote Arnie "I'll be back!" and I'll remember to book in advance..... Perhaps the staff and management of the "Cafe des Arts" in Brugges should go and find out how to do good food, with good service at a fair price!

September 27th

Des finds out about the high-life, She and a group of co-workers got whisked off to London in a Limo' taken to Jonglers in Camden for an evening of comedy and dancing and returned home at 3:30 in the morning having drunk "Bolly dahling" all night long ......

September 28th

and not a trace of a hangover either.

Summer is no officially over Ted has been ordered to dismantle the Barbie, cover the garden furniture and it is raining..... still it was a good one while it lasted
