Anni's birthday... Committee meeting in the evening after which Ted, John the
Bassman and David Planner went to the Queen Victoria, no not the one in Albert
Square but the one in London SE1, where we spent a nice evening in a real
traditional pub, no theme just booze, good company and a conversation with the
locals, JtB used to be a regular when he work near by. Fab pub Pat, please don't
change it too much.
November 15th
Over to John the Bassman & the lovely Glenda's for supper ...they
announced their intention to sell up and move to Spain as soon after Christmas
as possible. Well we knew it was coming but still quite sudden.
After supper we all went up to the Selsdon Park to have a quick look at the
band who are booked to do the Ladies Festival I'm responsible for. They looked
good so they are booked.
November 16th
Down to the sea side for Anni's house warming come Birthday Lunch Party. Nice

There I was swimming up and down in the gym's pool and I went and cut my toes
on a sharp bit of tile. Blood all over the sauna, took a while to clean it up
too. The good news is they did a proper job of dealing with a blood spill.
November 21st
It has been unusually warm this week so far, 16C plus at times, but the
weather certainly change overnight last night, grey horrid rain, much cooler
yeuch, too wet to take the dog for a walk, I sat in and watched the Matrix for
the first time (sad git the sequel is out on DVD) well it was better than
watching "BBC Children In Need" which was very "amateur night at
the students union" this year ... ie CARP.
November 22nd
Rain Rain Rain....... grey horrid day, good news Des has gone shopping so a
chance to update the site, 10 days in one sitting. I'll do the eJTV update next
.... then I might do some stuff about the good ol days when the world was young,
the sun always shone.....
November 23rd
As usual I ran out of time to do stuff about the Good Ol' Days but I will
soon ... I was prompted to do some G O D stuff as a result of going past the 4th
Gillingham Sea Scouts Hut and finding it locked up and behind a tall fence
...... Sent an email to the last listed GSL on the Kent Scouting site.
November 24th to 28th
Long hard week training every nurse I could find at the East Surrey Hospital
how to use the new FK feeding pump, I can recite the entire speil in my sleep
I've said it so often.... in fact Wednesday night I was saying it in my sleep
when I did the night shift!!
November 27th
I got a reply to my email about my old scout group.....
Hi
Ted,
Good
to hear from an old boy. Yes set your mind at rest we are still up and
running. Unfortunately last October the large redwood tree at the rear of the
hut decided to drop one of it's branches from about 90 feet up and it went
thro the roof not once but twice. Lucky for us the insurance company have at
last agreed to pay for the repair estimated at about £70,000+. This is due to
the fact that the upper hall as you would know was shaped asbestos and that
cannot be repaired but has to be all replaced the downside is that we cannot
keep the original shape but have to have conventional straight walls and a
tiled roof still what we lose in character we will gain in room and dryness.
It is expected to be all completed towards the end of December. We are
hoping to have an old boys/leader reunion and official opening sometime
early next year so if you are interested I will let you know when the date
is agreed. If you have any old boys/leaders addresses or contact numbers I
would be much obliged if you could let me have them.
Regards,
Dave
Perkins
